Here is how Twitter following Ajax’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Ajax carry a 1-0 lead to their home after defeating Tottenham Hotspur in front of their home fans. An early first-half goal from the attacking midfielder Donny Van de Beek was the separation lines between these two sides. This result does not mean the end of the world for Spurs who will welcome their forward Heung Min Son for the reverse leg at Amsterdam Arena.
It was a performance to forget for Mauricio Pochettino whose side looked bleak from minute one. They put in a spirited performance in the second half, but they fell short because of the lack of decisiveness. Ajax started the game on the front foot and lead through their attacking midfielder Van de Beek who slotted the ball inside the back of the net.
When Spurs defence went for a walk, Hakim Ziyech found de Beek inside the penalty box. The Dutch International enough time and space to tuck the ball inside the back of the net. David Neres would have doubled the lead, but the Brazilian hit the crossbar from an easy position in the second half. There were two half chances for Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld in the first half, who failed to hit the target from set pieces. Their only shot on target was comfortably caught by the keeper Andre Onana.
We shall look the Twitter reactions on Ajax’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Ajax deserved the win tonight but not getting the 2nd away goal means Spurs are still well in this tie! De Jong & De Ligt very good again & look like future superstars. But thought Daley Blind was outstanding, great football brain. #TOTAJA @ChampionsLeague

1 – Only one of the 17 previous teams to lose the first leg at home in a European Cup/Champions League semi-final tie has progressed into the final (Ajax in 1995-96). Burdensome. #TOTAJA pic.twitter.com/hXxUbXwFAp
