Novaj Djokovic’s return to competitive Tennis was cut-short by Hyeon Chung, who beat the former World Number one in straight sets(7-6, 7-5, 7-6) to get to his first Grand slam Quarter-Final.
Interestingly, Djokovic beat Chung in straight sets two years ago, but Chung deservedly got his revenge this time round giving the Rod Laver Arena a match to remember for a life time.
Djokovic who was playing competitive Tennis after so long, did so very well do get to the Round of 16, playing some compact(and solid) Tennis all through, until the roadblock named ‘Chung’ made an appearance.
Chung is someone who hunts every ball down on the court, making life difficult for his opponents, and always, always forcing them to play that extra ball in order to win a point, brought his A-game to the court tonight.
He took advantage of Djokovic’s rustiness, making him play that extra ball to secure the winner, and coming up with amazing passing shots whenever he was pushed against the wall.
Chung would play Sandgren in the quarter final on Wednesday, in what would would be a first for both gentlemen.
Twitter went crazy after Chung announced himself to the world, adding a little sympathy in there for Djokovic too.

In Korean, Chung thanked people in Korea who were staying up late to watch and mentioned that it’s not over yet and that he hopes to give them more to cheer for on Wednessday. 🙂 #AusOpen

Must be hard for Chung knowing that even if he beats Djokovic he’s the 2nd best player on the Korean Peninsula. Kim Jong Un still undefeated
