Here is how Twitter reacted to Lionel Messi’s hattrick which sealed the victory for Barcelona over Sevilla.
After getting submerged in the Copa Del Rey, Sevilla welcomed Barcelona to Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium in the La Liga. The same script repeated as the Blaugrana beat Sevilla 4-2 to keep the lead at the top intact.
Jesus Navas and Gabriel Sarabia scored for the hosts, whereas Lionel Messi’s hattrick and Luis Suarez’s goal at the end sealed another victory for Ernesto Valverde’s men.
It was the hosts who opened the scoring through their skipper Jesus Navas in the 22nd minute. But, it was cancelled out by Lionel Messi’s thunderous volley within four minutes to equalize the score.
Just moments before half-time Sevilla’s defender Gabriel Sarabia took the goal very well when Barcelona’s defence went to sleep. Lionel Messi levelled the score after he used his right foot to find the right top corner to produce an excellent finish.
The visitors kept on tapping on Sevilla’s defence and finally lead the game for the first time when Carlos Alena’s shot deflected off Sevilla’s defender fell kindly for Lionel Messi who just to loop the ball over the rushing goalkeeper five minutes before the full-time whistle. The game was put beyond the sight of Sevilla after Luis Suarez’s goal in the injury time.
Sevilla were equal for most parts of the game, but they lost their morale after Lionel Messi’s equalizer in the second half. The Argentine International would be able to work Sevilla alone in his La Liga career as he has scored most goals against them.
