Here are the twitter reactions as Real Madrid holds Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa Del Rey Semifinals.
Barcelona’s record goalscorer was forced to be benched after suffering an injury against Valencia in the weekend. It was the home side who started the game on front foot, but the visitors took the lead through Lucas Vazquez who had the simpler task to tap the ball in after an excellent work from Real Madrid’s number 9 Karim Benzema to set the Spaniard up inside six minutes of the game.
Barcelona kept on troubling Real Madrid’s defense, and Ivan Rakitic hit the post just moments before half-time. It was a day of frustration for the Blaugrana who eventually found the equalizer when Luis Suarez’s shot was excellently cleared off the line by Sergio Ramos. But the winger Malcom was there to loop the ball over the defenders when the goalkeeper was in no man’s land.
Lionel Messi was introduced in the 64th minute, but he was not able to have much effect on the game.
The Los Blancos were threatening through the counter and their youngster Vinicius Junior had two glaring chances to put the game beyond the bed, but the Brazilian failed to so. When Ter Stegen was committed, Gareth Bale had the job to put the ball behind the back of the net. But, he took too many chances which helped Barcelona’s defence to win the ball back.
It was an exhilarating contest, nonetheless.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the game.

Full-time and what a match, imagine we have two more El Clásicos to go 🤩
▪️And that’s why Malcom went to Barcelona.
▪️All even at Camp Nou, but Real Madrid take that away goal with them into the second leg.

| CHANCE |
Gareth Bale should have done far better with that one!
He had the chance to give Real Madrid the lead against Barcelona 😳#ElClasico pic.twitter.com/r4jCN323Zc

Messi wasn’t incredible tonight, but imagine trying to match the introduction of Lionel Messi with Gareth Bale.😂😂😂

Being Bale you don’t need to take 2 touches before shooting at an open net. Could have finished the game over there.
Malcolm finished the job what Gareth Bale should have done too but screwed up.#ElClasico #BarcaMadrid #HalaMadrid pic.twitter.com/cGdcxxdjeN

Despite the fact that he came on on the 63rd minute, Messi completed more take-ons (5) than any Real Madrid player.
