Twitter reactions on Nitish Rana's 7th IPL half-century

Twitter reactions on Nitish Rana’s 7th IPL half-century: Twitter was excited to witness a brilliant knock by the Knight Riders’ batsman.

During the sixth match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab at Kolkata, Kolkata Knight Riders middle-order batsman Nitish Rana registered his seventh IPL half-century.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the fourth over, Rana took his time initially as fellow batsman Robin Uthappa was scoring the boundaries. Having scored four runs on the first nine balls that he faced, it was only after the powerplay that Rana first attempted to take on the opposition bowlers.

On the fourth delivery of the eighth over, Rana sat on his knee to hit Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin for a gigantic six over long-on. While Ashwin continued to bowl from the same end, Rana hit him another six over long-on in the following over.

Bowling his fourth over on the trot, Ashwin ended up conceding 16 runs in his last over. Failing to counter Rana’s assault, Ashwin’s full-toss came as a gift to the batsman as he hit another six off Ashwin. Just when all this wasn’t enough, the batsman flat-batted Ashwin for another six over the long-off.

Having conceded 47 runs in four overs, Ashwin’s shambolic day continued as his ploy to introduce Mandeep Singh into the attack saw Rana hit another couple of sixes in the part-time part-timer’s over. On the first ball of the 14th over, Rana hit a Hardus Viljoen delivery towards the fine-leg region to complete his half-century.

In what was his second consecutive half-century, Rana ended up scoring 63 (34) with the help of two fours and seven sixes before getting out to debutant Varun Chakravarthy in the 15th over.
