Twitter reactions on Shane Watson's magnificent 96

Twitter reactions on Shane Watson’s magnificent 96: Twitter was exhilarated at Super Kings opening batsman’s magnificent century.

During the 41st match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chennai, Chennai Super Kings opening batsman Shane Watson registered his 17th IPL half-century to lay a solid foundation for Super Kings’ eight IPL 2019 victory.

Opening the batting with Faf du Plessis (1), Watson seemed clueless in the beginning as SRH captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar started proceedings with a maiden over. It was only after CSK vice-captain Suresh Raina’s arrival that Watson started to dictate terms.

Out of Chennai’s 49/1 in the powerplay, Watson had scored 20* (17). It was a 77-run stand for the second wicket between Watson and Raina which saw the veteran cricketer find form in the tournament. While Raina (38) was dismissed at the exact halfway mark, Watson joined hands with Ambati Rayudu to continue piling on the runs.

On the fourth delivery of the 12th over, Watson hit a Sandeep Sharma delivery over deep square leg for a six to complete his half-century. Continuing the momentum, Watson was then seen punishing Hyderabad bowlers at will.

Witnessed in a face-off with Rashid Khan during the spinner’s first over, Watson even attacked later in the innings. On the first delivery of the 18th over, Watson edged a Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivery to Hyderabad wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow. The 37-year old cricketer ended up scoring 96 (53) with the help of nine fours and six sixes.
