Here is how Twitter reacted as Barcelona beat Real Madrid for the second time in three days.
Real Madrid invited their arch-rivals Barcelona to Santiago Bernabeu within a span of three days to only taste the second defeat. It was an evenly balanced game with both sides have plenty of chances of going ahead in the game, but Ivan Rakitic’s little dink over the goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was enough to assure the three points for the Blaugrana in a tight contest.
Like the previous game, there were not plenty of clear cut chances which went for begging. But, the final third of the game was totally lacking in the game despite having much more intensity to the game. Ivan Rakitic’s strike was the only difference in the first half.
During the second part of the game, Vinicius Junior had an excellent chance to go ahead in the game, but he failed to accept the invitation. From a set piece situation, Raphael Varane was all alone to find the back of the net, but he chose to hit it straight to the goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
Since the Blaugrana’s full-backs were higher up the pitch, they were caught on several occasions by the Los Blancos wingers. They tried to find either Karim Benzema or Luka Modric inside the penalty box, by failing to do so, Gerard Pique put in a mammoth performance.
The defender should be acknowledged with the Man of the match award as he bailed Barcelona out on several occasions against the opposition. Santiago Solari’s side has not learned from the previous game as they fail to take their chances. On the other hand, Barcelona have tried to sit back and hit them on the counter-attack.
It was not a game of highest quality as some of the big individual names were unsuccessful in their overall game and struggled for game flow. With this victory, Barcelona go 12 points above their opponents Real Madrid who are currently placed third in the League table.

Well, well, @FCBarcelona now have more victories in Clasicos than @realmadriden. The last time that was the case was 87 years ago. 👊🏻

In proper context, this match was easily Valverde’s best as a Barcelona coach when you understand his priorities, and tonight he got it spot on.

Lots of good performances from Barcelona to admire there but Gerard Pique was particularly excellent. Positionally brilliant, a monster in the box. That dribble across his own goal line was ludicrous 😂
— Sam Tighe (@stighefootball) March 2, 2019
Pique was absolutely mountainous there. More clearances (13), interceptions (3) and blocked shots (3) than any other player on the pitch. If he’s injured his hamstring as it appeared, that’s a huge blow for Barcelona

“It was not a performance of a happy team. Not a performance of a team with great belief or self-esteem.”
“It was a soft performance.”

This is the worst stage Real Madrid has been on matchday 26 of La Liga since 2007.
— Ryan. (@Rygista) March 2, 2019
Until 2003, Barcelona had only won 13 out of 74 games at the Bernabeu.
In 2004, a player called Lionel Messi made his debut with Barcelona.
Since then, Barcelona have won 13 of the last 23 games in Real Madrid’s backyard.
