When RCB steeped in the fixture against RR, they had a lot at stake. Bangalore had to win this match in order to remain in contention for the playoffs. On the other hand, RR were at 12 points before the match and had to win this one to move up to 14.

Batting first, RR sent all-rounder Jofra Archer to open the batting. The move did not work as he was dismissed for a duck. Opener Rahul Tripathi played well, with some assistance from skipper Ajinkya Rahane.
Heinrich Klaasen and Krishnappa Gowtham took RR to a 164 run total which was decent giving the pitch at Jaipur.
