An MMA fighter’s nickname says a lot about his or her personality. It is only a moniker adopted, or it may have been motivated by a particular incident or person in the fighter’s life. Later on, though, the fighter’s nickname takes on a life of its own. The Notorious, God of War, and Soldier of God are a few well-known examples of nicknames for fighters.
As aforementioned, an event or a particular entity also inspires a fighter to take up the nickname. Something similar happened with one of the most prominent UFC light heavyweight fighters, Jamahal Hill. His moniker ‘Sweet Dream’ was inspired by one of the greatest names in pop culture.

‘Sweet Dreams’ is currently set to fight for the vacant light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira at UFC 283. Ahead of one of the biggest fights of his life, the 31-year-old was asked in an interview with ESPN about the origins of his moniker.
Hill revealed that his nickname was inspired by a song by famous pop star Beyonce. “In 2010 I was fighting my first amateur fight and I didn’t have a nickname. We were sitting down… Filling out the paperwork, they asked for a fight name…,” he said.”
“I’m sitting here trying to think and then the Beyonce song, “You can be a sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare,” came on and one of my teammates was like, “You should be sweet dreams.” It kinda stuck from there… The universe provided it,” Hill added.
‘Sweet Dreams’ is currently riding a three-fight win streak. Tonight is his biggest test against one of the oldest former champions, Teixeira.
UFC 283: Jamahal Hill vs. Glover Teixeira- The light heavyweight war
The light heavyweight title was previously vacated by champion Jiri Prochazka after he suffered a serious injury. Now, Teixeira will clash against Hill at UFC 283 inside the Jeunesse Arena, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, tonight.
UFC 283 is the first pay-per-view of the year and is expected to deliver fireworks given its amazing fight card. Hill is a product of the Dana White Contender Series. He has only lost once in his eight-fight UFC run.

His last three wins have come via a stunning knockout. However, one shouldn’t rule out Teixeira. Regardless of his age, the Brazilian fighter has several times proved himself. Given the caliber of both the fighters, fans are in for a ride in this event.
