7 Months After the FIFA World Cup, Khabib Nurmagomedov Comments on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Defeat: “I Was Waiting for…”
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is widely considered to be the best in the tournament’s history. It was filled with ups and downs and while it was a dream ending for Lionel Messi, his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup journey ended on a rather sour note as Portugal was knocked out of the round of 16 by Morrocco in a match where their number 7 did not start. The same left many fans emotional, including the ones who hate him. Interestingly, former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov also had high hopes for Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, Ronaldo’s journey in the FIFA World Cup ended in the quarterfinals in December. Now, Nurmagomedov has talked about it almost seven months post the tournament.

Speaking about how he was waiting for Cristiano Ronaldo to “sparkle”, the former UFC star had this to say during an interview with Gorilla Fighting:
“I was waiting for Ronaldo to sparkle”
It’s safe to say that Khabib Nurmagomedov was left disappointed with Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from the World Cup, just like his fans. However, Nurmagomedov further spoke about how the 2022 FIFA World Cup was the best he had ever watched after starting to watch football back in 1998.
Interestingly, this is not the only reason Nurmagomedov is in the headlines lately. As per reports, the former UFC champion has rejected to train Elon Musk in MMA. And one of his teammates has shared a reason for the same.
Has Khabib Nurmagomedov declined to train Elon Musk?
A potential cage fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg appears to have captivated the interest of the whole world. Interestingly, a number of MMA fighters have come forward and offered to help train the two.
Moreover, the founder of Tesla even appears to have sought the help of Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, his request was declined. As revealed by Dagestani’s teammates, the offer was declined because it might have a negative impact on the image of Nurmagomedov. He said:
“He refused because he trains only his guys, whom he knows personally. It could also have a negative impact on the image of the wrestler. Since he and Musk have different views on life, alcohol, and drugs.”
Despite having his request denied by Khabib Nurmagomedov, it is worth noting that Elon Musk has already had a training session with another former UFC star Georges St-Pierre in order to prepare for a potential fight against Mark Zuckerberg
