‘BMF Vs. The NMF would be awesome’: Stephen Thompson on why he wants to face Jorge Masvidal again
The final fight of the year turned out to be ideal for Stephen Thompson. The 37-year-old has redeemed himself in the Welterweight division by beating Geoff Neal at UFC Vegas 17.
One of the greatest strikers of the game, Stephen Thompson is apparently back to his very best. The fighter showcased his craft in the 25 minutes against Geoff Neal at UFC Vegas 17 and perhaps gave a thumping statement with his performance that he is very much alive in the title contention.
After securing the unanimous decision win on Saturday, the 37-year-old voiced his claim that he will be holding the Welterweight title at the end of 2021. However, it seems the wonderboy is aware that there are men above him in the pecking order therefore, he is not demanding a title shot straight away but, to bolster his chances he wants to face one of the top five prospects.
Currently ranked No.5 in the 170-pound weight class, Stephen Thompson desires to face Jorge Masvidal next. A contest, which Thompson said would be between sport’s NMF and BMF.

Stephen Thompson on why he wants to face Jorge Masvidal again
In the post-match comment section, Thomson challenged Masvidal, a fighter who he has beaten before. So, it is a general query, why Stephen Thompson wants to go up against a fighter who already is 0-1 down against him.
Wonderboy and Gamebred met in the Octagon in 2017, and Thomson believes since then much has been changed. He said that now “Masvidal is one of the most popular guys in UFC, ranked higher than me.”
Wonderboy stated that Jorge Masvidal is one of the finest opponents that he has seen opposite him. And thus would like to give him the opportunity to settle the score. Keeping in mind that a rematch could prove to be beneficial for him as well as he intends a further surge.
So, while the narrative is ideal in the form of NMF Vs. BMF, it is up to UFC and the matchmakers to decide, whether it is a match to make or not.
