Henry Cejudo UFC Championships

UFC 288 is just a few days away and the wait is almost over. It’s the return of the greatest combat athletes according to many, Henry Cejudo after a long layoff of 3 years returns inside the octagon to face Aljamain Sterling for the bantamweight championship of the world. Fans might wonder how many championships has Henry Cejudo won in his career in the UFC.

Henry Cejudo is called the triple C for a reason. He held three championships or equivalent of that in his career in combat sports.

Henry Cejudo Record: Championships in the UFC

Henry Cejudo is called the triple C because he won the gold medal in the Olympics in wrestling, he won the 125-pound championship in the UFC. He also won the 135-pound title in the UFC. The special thing about both these titles is that he held it simultaneously.

In 2008 Henry Cejudo won the gold medal in the Olympics by defeating Tomohiro Matsunaga. Henry Cejudo was the youngest at the time to do it. He then transitioned to the UFC a few years later. His road to the title was not an easy one.

Henry Cejudo had to go through killers before becoming the champion, Cejudo even faced roadblocks as he lost to Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez. The king of cringe who is known for his heart did not give up and came back stronger.

He defeated Demetrious Johnson at UFC 277 to become the 125-pound champion.  Cejudo then went on to beat TJ Dillashaw at 135 pounds and secured another belt in an upper weight class. He even defended his belt against Marlon Moraes at UFC 238 and Dominic Cruz at UFC 249.

Will Henry Cejudo go for the 3rd Belt?

The return of Henry Cejudo is in the bantamweight division at 135 pounds against the champion Aljamain Sterling. Triple C is confident in getting the job done and winning the championship at 135 pounds.

Henry Cejudo has also expressed interest in fighting Alexander Volkanovski for the 145-pound title. The ask could be a huge one as Volkanovski himself is the number 1 pound for pound according to many in the UFC. He won’t mind giving Henry Cejudo a shot at his title.

Triple C knows only one thing, and that’s winning. Getting the job done is what’s present in Henry Cejudo. The doubters were always there, even when Cejudo moved up a weight class to 135 pounds. And to the surprise of many at the time, Cejudo silenced everybody and won the 135-pound belt.
