"He’s looking for the Street Judas Masvidal cause he knows he’s washed up": Colby Covington On Why Kamaru Usman Called Out Jorge Masvidal At UFC 258

Colby Covington presents his thoughts on Kamaru Usman’s callout for Jorge Masvidal. Colby is of the opinion that the Nigerian Nightmare got lucky at UFC 258.

Following the conclusion of Kamaru Usman Vs. Gilbert Burns matchup, the situation has propelled to again figure out the No.1 contender for the title. While usually an undisputed fighter for the position makes his presence felt beforehand, however, in the Welterweight division there is no definite name that can be immediately pushed, moreover, there is a horizontal queue of contenders, with each having a valid case to present.

Though after the culmination of his fight, Usman implied that he is interested in a rematch with Jorge Masvidal, which has sparked the idea of Usman Vs. Masvidal 2 but with the likes of Leon Edwards, Stephen Thompson, and Colby Covington also present in the scene, Gamebred may not get a free-pass without proper classification. The linking of Usman and Masvidal with the new season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and the potential booking between Colby Covington and Leon Edwards is apparently a step in that direction.

Yet at this juncture, it is seemingly a puzzle as to who would get the title shot. However, Colby Covington recently shed light on the same in an interview with the hosts of Submission Radio and indirectly stated that he should be the frontrunner.

‘I want to show them Colby “Chaos” Covington 2.0’

In the chat, Colby Covington reviewed the UFC 258 headliner and said  Kamaru Usman got lucky there and also stated that Kamaru Usman is nearing a KO defeat.

“I think that looks like a guy really primed to get knocked out his next fight, and I want to be the one to deliver it,” Covington told. “He looks a little chinny. Dilbert, he’s an oversized m*dget, man, he’s a 155-er getting knocked out by 155-ers. The guy’s nothing, and that guy came out and dropped you and almost finished you in the first round?

“You got lucky to get out of that that he fell on his back and just sat there for five minutes and let you recover. Besides that, I didn’t see anything special. I see a guy that’s gotten worse. He changed camps and he looks like a different fighter in the worst way. He looks like he’s declined in his progression. So, he looks like a guy I’m ready to expose to the world, and I want to show them Colby “Chaos” Covington 2.0.”

Covington, who is also a premier candidate for the title shot, weighed in on why Usman called out Masvidal after the fight and not him.

“It’s hilarious. Marty Fakenewsman is a complete coward,” Covington said. “If I had a win over him the way he has a win over me, I would want to run that back right away. You know you didn’t beat me, and the fans know that night in that arena, and everybody around the world knew that that was a bullsht stoppage, a bullsht fight, and there’s still a lot of stones that are unturned. So, there’s a lot of unfinished business. He just knows what presents him the hardest challenge, and that’s me. He’s looking for an easy payday, he’s looking for the Street Judas Masvidal cause he knows he’s washed up. That fight goes the same way every single time, guys.”
