'I can do for sure is kick his a** again': Marlon Vera On Sean O'Malley's Belittling Claims

Marlon Vera details the state of his mind after incurring a loss against Jose Aldo and makes known he is open to challenge Sean O’Malley again.

Marlon Vera is on the cusp of breaking into the Top-10 Bantamweights of UFC, and at UFC Vegas 17 he had the opportunity to grow in stature but ultimately endured a setback in the form of a unanimous decision loss against Jose Aldo.

In a first media interaction since his loss, In an interview with MMA Junkie, Marlon Vera reflected on the result and stated what went wrong on the night.

“I believe, when you lose, there are a million things you can make up. You can make up a million excuses,” Vera said. “I tried just to see the realistic (reasons) why I (lost) or what I could’ve done better. I believe coming into the third round, I was too excited, I was so sure I was about to finish him in a really spectacular way that I came in too heavy.

“It’s my fault. There is no coach to blame. There are no teammates to blame. I don’t want to erase this memory because that’s what’s going to get me through the next things. I’m going to use that chip on my shoulder to not overcommit or get too excited. I went for the kill and got stuck in a weird position. (Expletive) happens.”

Marlon Vera On Sean O’Malley’s Belittling Claims

While Marlon Vera is seeing the brighter side of the loss and is motivated to change the momentum, his biggest naysayer Sean O’Malley did not let go of the opportunity to go down the drain. O’Malley tried to pick on Vera, who is his old foe, and the fighter who inflicted him his first loss in MMA.

Suga Sean recently came out with a statement that Veraa is not his level, and thus, will not be interested in a rematch bout unless the Equadorian has an undefeated streak to his name. Addressing Malley’s claims, Marlon Vera implied he is open to fighting him again.

“Everybody’s always got something to say,” Vera added. “What can we do about it? There’s nothing you can do about it. I won’t lose time arguing with a (expletive).
