'I could possibly fight until I'm forty': Khabib Nurmagomedov On What UFC Would Possibly Do To Bring Him Back

Khabib Nurmagomedov ruminates over why UFC wants him to come back and throws light on what UFC would possibly do in order to invoke his interest in another fight.

Almost a month has passed and yet there is no concrete word on Khabib Nurmagomedov’s in-ring future. While UFC president Dana White stands firm on his ground that ‘Khabib’s gonna fight’ and manager (former) Ali Abdelaziz is campaigning for 30-0, it is Khabib himself who can tell his genuine status.

On October 24, when Khabib hung up his gloves, he asserted that he would never return without his father. And on the basis of what he said in the latest press address, it does seem that he intends to keep himself away from the Octagon, but at the same time gives an impression that there’s still a window open for Khabib’s Time.

In a brief session, the 31-year-old opened up on his decision to retire and said he only took the call to depart from the sport upon reaching his target. He expresses, there’s no challenge left for him now, and though Dana White and other promoters will keep seeking his return in UFC, as his presence guarantees some commercial success, but concludes the chapter by stating, “I have no plans to continue fighting.”

The Eagle further conveyed that he is done with the Octagon act and now wants to resume his education.  The Dagestani fighter mulls over the situation, that there might arrive a potential challenger who can present his case in front of him and could interest him to come back for 30-0, but still is off the view that even then the fact would remain the same i.e., he achieved what he sighted and thus, would wave off the fight.

Although with these words, it is evident that he is not in any dispute over his decision, and may very well stay away from the 8-sided closed figure for the rest of his life, however, on an encouraging note for his fans and followers, as long as he is in the USADA testing pool, an eventual comeback cannot be ruled out.
