Sean O’Malley reveals what Marlon Vera has to do in order to get a rematch against him.
Sean O’Malley Vs. Marlon Vera is one of the potential rematches to look forward to in 2021. The fighters did meet in the Octagon in 2020 at UFC 252, where Vera secured the win via the first-round TKO.
Sean O’Malley, who was quite outspoken in the run-up and entered as a heavy favorite, suffered an unfortunate ankle injury in the bout, and hence endured his first career loss in MMA. However, O’Malley has since apparently shown disregard to the result and claims that he is still undefeated.
While the in-ring battle culminated at UFC 252 but, the Bantamweights seemingly still have bad-blood for each other, as intermittent shots on social media are still fired from both ends.
So, on account of ill-feeling, a rematch can be on the cards. However, both fighters have disapproved of the idea. Vera, who stood tall against Sean expectedly does not want a re-run since he won convincingly, and Sean, on the other hand, does not consider Vera to be on the same level as him.

Sean O’Malley reveals why he is not interested in a rematch with Marlon Vera
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Suga Sean revealed why he’s not interested in a rematch with Chito Vera. But, in turn, did state the prerequisite which Vera has to fill, in order to compete against him again.
“For me to rematch (Vera), he’ll have to be on a win streak. It’ll have to make sense. I feel like I’m just a different level fighter. That would be like fighting someone backwards,” O’Malley said.

O’Malley also brought up Vera’s recent loss to Jose Aldo and thinks one more loss will erase him from the main card.
“He said there’s not enough money in the world to fight me again. But dude, if he loses another fight and he’s like, ‘I want to fight Sean.’ He’s about to be Chito ‘Prelim’ Vera.” (Source- MMANews)
Sean O’Malley has now recovered from the injury he faced at UFC 252 and would return in 2021. While he was out of action, he made his presence felt on social media. And recently engaged in an argument with Cody Garbrandt, and also took a dig at TJ Dillashaw. With these antics, he might be on the lookout for a new opponent, yet despite what he asserts, a rematch with Marlon Vera ostensibly makes sense. What do you think?
