After several failed attempts to administer Ion Cutelaba Vs. Magomed Ankalaev rematch, UFC is again on board with the fight, and now it is scheduled to take place on October 24, at the fight island.
What started out as a typical Light Heavyweight battle, has now given birth to one of the most anticipated battles of 2020. Ion Cutelaba Vs. Magomed Ankalaev 1, took place in Feb 2020, where Ankalaev seemingly got the better of Cutelaba. On the night it was referee Kevin MacDonald who made headlines because of his purported early stoppage, which later instigated debates about the legitimacy of the finish, and some fans even called it “The Worst Stoppage ever.”
(In case you are unaware and wondering what happened back then, here’s a clip that showcases exactly what transpired on the night)

Ion Cutelaba Vs. Magomed Ankalaev: Rematch Booked
Cutelaba did appealed in front of authorities about the finish, but his plea could not modify the result of the match. Since then, UFC has booked the rematch several times, but each time Covid-19 laid waste upon the fight, and hampered its initiation. Yet, the matchmakers at no point abandoned the fight, and they have again placed a date in front of the fixture.
This match-up only makes the fight card of UFC 254 better. The event already has some stellar fights lined up, with the headliner being Khabib Nurmagomedov Vs. Justin Gaethje.
2 champion, 4 former champion, 4 title challengers. How do you like this card with full of killers. Best card of the year. #ufc254 pic.twitter.com/iVs2LRORWw

So, let’s hope this time Corona particles stay away from the bout, and let the action commence.
