Leon Edwards reveals UFC forced him out from the January 20 card
Leon Edwards implies UFC is preserving him so that the planned bout against Khamzat Chimaev does not go haywire.
After getting ruled out from the January 20, main event, Leon Edwards reveals that he was open to competing against anyone of the now headliner protagonists, Neil Magny or Michael Chiesa at the scheduled event but, UFC resort to scrapping him from the card.
Edwards, whose booking against Khamzat Chimaev is severely hit by Covid-19 on two occasions, was apparently eager to step inside the octagon even without the targeted opponent but, the promotion decided to keep him in reserve for the particular bout against Khamzat Chimaev.
Through a comment on a related post, Edwards conveyed that he was ready to face Chimaev straight after the international fight week, yet UFC did not consider his offering.

Leon Edwards Vs. Khamzat Chimaev: Potential Date of Rebooking
As it was reported a few days ago that Khamzat Chimaev is yet to fully come out from the complications related to Covid-19, hence, there is no time frame as to when the rebooking will take place. However, considering the hype that is behind this fight, one of the Saturdays of the first quarter will most probably be the target.
Can the fight become a part of a Pay-Per-View? In both the scrap-offs Leon Edwards Vs. Khamzat Chiimaev was a part of a weekly fight night show. So, chances are the fight will be intended to main event another of the sort. Moreover, at some point in 2020 Khamzat Chimaev stated that UFC president Dana White has promised to book him in the main event next. Therefore, for it to become a part of a Pay-Per-View of the first quarter, the main event condition will not exist, as all three UFC marquee shows have a designated headliner fight. However, the co-main event spot of UFC 258 is still seemingly vacant and might be the only window for this match to sneak in at a PPV.
PPV or a weekly show, what’s still of paramount importance is that the third time should prove to be the charm and finally pave the path for two individuals to share the ring space.
