‘Shame on you’-Rafael dos Anjos Criticizes Michael Chandler For Refusing To Fight Against Him; Chandler Responds
Rafael dos Anjos is not amused to see Michael Chandler refusing to take up the short-notice fight against him.
After his set opponent withdrew following an injury scare, Rafael dos Anjos is on the lookout for a new competitor, who can fill Islam Makhachev’s slot at UFC Vegas 14. While only a handful of days left for the scheduled event to take place, and upon realizing that RDA wasted no time to call out Michael Chandler.
Chandler, a new marquee signing of UFC, who was straightaway put on reserve for the Khabib Vs. Gaethje fight, doesn’t look eager to fight dos Anjos, as he has evidently waived off the call out by stating that he has other plans.
Former UFC Lightweight champion seemingly did not find Chandler’s answer satisfactory, and immediately took to Twitter to write some harsh words, which are apparently directed at the former Bellator Lightweight champion.
He wrote: “If you don’t take a fight because you don’t have enough time to drop weight I get it but don’t tell me you have other plans. I became the champion of the BIGGEST organization fighting everyone they put in front of me. Shame on you.”

Michael Chandler’s Response
On noticing RDA’s post, “Iron” used the micro-blogging website to justify his earlier response, and in-process gave a reply to Rafael Dos Anjos.
“I’ll go ahead and assume that the above statement was directed at me. We do have other plans & we won’t just abandon them out of the blue. Also, making weight this quick is impossible this soon after last cut. For the record…I was never offered this fight.”
Rafael Dos Anjos Gets a Call Out From Santiago Ponzinibbio
While it is a clear no from Michael Chandler’s side, another fighter -Santiago Ponzinibbio- who, though is set to make a return in January 2021, is willing to cut the waiting time for the comeback, and wants to take the short-notice fight against Rafael dos Anjos.
Santiago last stepped inside the octagon in November 2018, and following a long stint without competing, is set to face Muslim Salikhov on January 2021. However, he is targeting an early return, and made his intentions public by challenging RDA.
now you can’t run @RdosAnjosMMA I am ready to dance this Saturday! let’s do it in 170 🔪🇦🇷 #ufc @ufc @AliAbdelaziz00

Though, he will not advance as the challenger, as Paul Felder’s name has been ultimately finalized for the UFC Vegas 14 main event.
