The irregular UFC 300 announcements from Dana White since the ending month of 2023 have kept the fans talking about it. Despite revealing a few major fights of the coveted UFC event, the UFC CEO has often said that there’s a lot more yet to come. This is why several rumors about possible UFC 300 matchups are being heard inside the UFC community currently.
The UFC authorities haven’t announced the touted main event of the night as well. It won’t be wrong to say that this is one of the major reasons behind such speculations. Several sources said that the UFC 300 will be headlined by the current UFC welterweight king, Leon Edwards’ third title defense. But a large chunk of the fanbase rejected the idea, labeling the fight as incapable of generating enough hype.
The noted former UFC champ, Israel Adesanya, has been on a hiatus since his defeat at UFC 293. ‘Izzy’s’ star power in the UFC also has a lot of fans predicting that he will make a comeback at UFC 300. But there is some confusion about ‘The Last Stylebender’s’ rival even if he decides to end his hiatus. The noted UFC light heavyweight champ, Alex Pereira, and the current UFC middleweight champ, Dricus Du Plessis, both wanted Adesanya as his next rival.
Well, the fan predictions about ‘Izzy’s’ return gained even more air after he teased a return at UFC 300 with an Instagram story recently. However, a few recent incidents indicated that the biggest UFC PPV star, Conor McGregor, may also make a comeback on the night of 13 April. But there’s a similar confusion regarding his rival.
Conor McGregor may fight Nate Diaz instead of Michael Chandler at UFC 300
UFC authorities have been hyping up McGregor’s return fight against Michael Chandler since the beginning half of 2023. But recent advancements revealed that the fight could finally happen at UFC 300. ‘The Notorious’ may have announced his return to happen on 29 June this year. But one of his recent ‘X’ updates also implied that he would love to be on the UFC 300 card.
Chandler was quick to accept McGregor’s wish with an ‘X’ update on his account. He didn’t want to miss out on the chance to fight a noted name like McGregor, even if he had to fight a few months earlier than the previously mentioned timeline.
I accept See you soon @TheNotoriousMMA #ufc300 https://t.co/KX6JOv0qG1

But another ‘X’ update from the noted ‘Stockton Gangster’ Nate Diaz has put the fans in dilemma about McGregor’s comeback rival. Lately, Diaz revealed how a fight between him and McGregor was supposed to headline UFC 200. His ‘X’ update also stated that he would be glad to headline UFC 300. However, the snap accompanying Diaz’s words revealed that he wanted to fight McGregor only.
Nobody except Father Time knows which fight will ultimately stand as the UFC 300 headliner. But most fans may agree that all of the possible fights discussed above are indeed worthy of the UFC 300 main event.
