UFC News: Max Holloway Vs. Calvin Kattar Set To Headline January 16 Fight Night Event

Max Holloway and Calvin Katter are booked to headline January 16 Fight night event. 

On Tuesday, UFC announced the return of the former Featherweight champion Max Holloway. The Blessed one is set to mark his comeback in January against the No.6 in the 145-pound division Calvin Kattar.

Holloway, a fan favourite by a long stretch, hasn’t fought a non-title match since June 2016. While in the course he  held the Featherweight strap for two years and also made a valiant attempt to grab the Interim Lightweight title, but in his last two bouts not only he has lost the title to Alexander Volkanovski, he also could not make the most his opportunity in the rematch as well.

Now, it could be perceived that he is determined to fight for the title again, thus, this fight against Calvin Kattar, might present a fresh start in the journey to attain the old belt.

Calvin Kattar, 32, on the other hand, has fought twice in 2020, and was on the winning end on both occasions.

Max Holloway Vs. Calvin Kattar: Win/Loss Record

When it comes to the overall record they both walk shoulder to shoulder. However, Max Holloway’s record in UFC is what stands out. Prior to his back-to-back losses, the 28-year-old exhibited himself as a dominating force, as he was on the end of 14 straight victories in the Featherweight division, where, he in-process also defended the title thrice. Calvin Katter is 6-2 in UFC, and carries a general figure of 22-4.

So, with Conor McGregor Vs. Dustin Poirier in the process to become official for January 23, and now the broke-out of Max Holloway’s return, UFC is planning to start 2021 with a bang.
