There is an Uncharted Reboot in the works at Sony. However, Naughty Dog will not be involved; it will just be supervising.
Uncharted is one of Sony’s most critically acclaimed franchises in the gaming industry. With the success of Uncharted 4 and the PC port, the Legacy of Thieves, it has sold more than 10 million plus copies.
It is no surprise that the adventures of Nathan Drake have fans hooked. No doubt, Sony is rebooting the franchise, but not from the game’s original developers to take advantage. Let’s break it down.

According to Insider Gaming, a new Uncharted Reboot is in the works at Sony with an unknown developer. It is a new studio; however, it will have the assistance of Naughty Dog during the initial phase of production.
The reason why fans are against this is that Naughty Dog has developed these characters. They know how to do justice to them without messing up the world-building and scale of the story.
The leaks were brought to light by The Leak, who has a good track record of giving news about several studio projects. This Leak has the fans talking, but there might be a reason why Naughty Dog is not involved. Let us go back to an interview that the Lead Game Designer at Naughty Dog, Rob Cogburn, did with Kotaku.
In that interview, he said, “These games are hard to make. Particularly with a character like Nathan Drake in a world that’s fairly grounded, it’s a challenge to consider how much more we can expand the universe while adhering to those sorts of rules.”
He added, “That’s not to say the questions will be the same in games we make going forward, but as a studio, we grow tired of answering those same types of questions in the same fiction. It’s going to be fun for us to really embark on new ideas and start fleshing those out [in a new series].”
Let us see what happens in the future. The Leak has been pretty accurate about games in the past. It will be interesting to see what Sony does with this opportunity.
