The last few weeks have seen a media circus unfolding around the Anil Kumble’s position as the head coach of team India. It all started a few weeks ago, when the BCCI decided to invite applications for the head coach of team India. This led to much furor, as Kumble did not show any sign of quitting anytime soon. Now it has been decided that the Cricket Advisory Committee will select the new head coach for Team India.

The Cricket Advisory Committee consists of former greats, Saurav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman. The trio will now meet at the Royal Garden Hotel and then take a call on what will be the next step.

The meeting will be convened by BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, who will try and understand where the committee stands ahead of the selection process. It is understood that Virender Sehwag will be one of the applicants for the post, while Tom Moody is also someone that the BCCI is interested in.

While Kumble’s track record as a head coach has been superb, there have been several reports of discontent coming out of the Indian dressing room. Many players have complained about Kumble’s authoritarian approach which they do not feel is necessary.

There have also been rumors of a rift between the coach and captain Kohli. Apparently, they disagreed over the selection of Kuldeep Yadav in the starting eleven. In fact, things got so bad that the pair were not even on talking terms for a brief period.

Currently, team India will be focusing all its attention towards securing a victory over Sri Lanka, which would secure their spot in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy. India will look to become the first side to retain the Champions Trophy, after their triumph four years ago, also in England.
