USMNT’s Gio Reyna Handed A Bumper Extension By Borussia Dortmund: USA’s youngest ever player to play in the Bundesliga continues making massive inroads at the global stage
Hailing from a family filled to the brim with some of the biggest names in USA’s football fraternity, Gio Reyna has more than lived upto the gargantuan expectations accorded on his head. The precarious young star was recently rewarded for his diligent hardwork with Borussia Dortmund extending his contract till 2025.

Gio’s development in recent months has been incredible,” Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc said. “He will definitely be an important part of Borussia Dortmund’s sporting future. I am personally very pleased that he has decided to extend his contract with BVB in the long term with complete conviction,” he added.
Reyna’s Foray Into The Bundesliga
First catching eyes back in January of 2020 when he stepped out as a 17 year old to become the youngest ever American to partake in the Bundesliga, things have only been on an uptick for Reyna ever since. He’s been rewriting the record book ever since his debut for the German club with his sprawling expertise seeing him making massive headway into the club’s playing 11.
Providing a hattrick of assists against Freiburg this season, Reyna is currently Borussia Dortmund’s top assists provider and the youngest ever player in the league to assist thrice in a single encounter. Such has been his ascendancy that he’s playing six out of seven matches for the club to earn the second most minutes for an attacking player at the club this season.

“I only need to say a couple of words and that’s that he’s the American dream. “I don’t need to say more,” said striker Haaland.
“I think Gio is a great player, I feel like he’s going to be one of the next best players here at Dortmund. “I’m just happy to see him play, and play with him every week, and I’m just excited for what happens next,” Sancho said when talking about Reyna.
Reyna Scores First USA Goal
His remarkable and glistening form didn’t go by unnoticed in his country either with Reyna earning his first call up for the USA side earlier this month.
Roped into the side’s squad for their fixtures against Wales and Panama, Reyna went onto justify the trust reposed in him with him scoring his maiden goal at the international level in USA’s 6-2 trouncing of Panama.
