Attacker Side Strategies

On the attack side, Killjoy has lots of value if one knows how to use her correctly. Her utility on the attack can be a lethal weapon, both for watching flanks and setting up a post plant. However, you would be better off letting the Turret watch the flanks and save the alarm bot for post-plant.

Although, if you notice multiple open gaps that enemies can take advantage of, it would be wise to use the alarm bot there since it covers a wide area. Now, let us talk about the post-plant. Most people place their Killjoy Nanoswarms on the bomb after it is planted. While that is a great idea, and we will talk about that later, you should learn some lineups.

Those lineups will drop the Nanos on the bomb at the last second from afar, and this can delay the defuse even further since the enemies won’t destroy the mollies already placed on the bomb. That is the same problem with pre-placing the mollies on the bomb.

To work around that, you must activate the mollies right when the enemies are on the verge of defusing so they do not get close enough to see the Nanos. In terms of creating space, you can use your Lockdown to get a free site, although keep an eye on stragglers.

Defender Side Strategies

Now, the defensive side is the most important for this Agent. It is the difference maker between a good anchor and the best one. You should know where to place your utility so that enemies do not expect it and are caught off guard. Change your setups, even a little, now and then so enemies won’t know where you will hit them from and are paranoid about coming to the site.

Most players combine the Turret and the Nanoswarms or the Alarmbot and the Nanoswarms. This is how it works; players place the Turret or the Alarmbot to hold a chokepoint and plant Nanos ahead of it; when enemies peek and the turret shoots, they trigger the Nanoswarms. It might not get kills, but you will do damage.

However, you can also peek off your Turret. Place the Turret at an open angle in which, if you peek at any enemy, you can kill them without being spammed through your Turret. When the Turret detects an enemy, you can quickly peek off it before the enemy destroys it and resets their aim. However, you need to remember that you are just one player.

If it gets overwhelming and you cannot hold control of a site, do not hesitate to fall back and play retake with your teammates. That is the best time to use your Ultimate. Since you will have lots of space after the Lockdown, retake the site and watch standard post-plant angles to fend off the attackers and win the round.

Tips and tricks for mastering Killjoy in Valorant

A couple of tips and tricks mentioned below will skyrocket your expertise on Killjoy. You will be an expert Sentinel in no time by employing these tips.

  • Please set up your Turret so that it watches two angles at once. Sometimes it will be hard to find, but doing so will ensure that you cover the map as much as possible without sacrificing an Agent or another piece of utility.
  • Learn lineups for your Nanoswarms for post-plant on the attack. Having at least two lineups for each site and the map gives you an escape card to secure post-plants without destroying your equipment. The mollies will not only delay the defuse but might also net you free kills, which is always a bonus.
  • Change your setup on defense often. If enemies can predict where your equipment is every round, they will quickly destroy it or work around it. Therefore, you will have to vary it up and find a way to change your setups so you can be unpredictable. Sometimes changing sites is also the right move depending on the enemy’s tendencies.
  • Set up trap plays. Use your Turret to peek, combine Nanoswarms with the Turret or the alarm bot, and make various combinations with your utility. The success of Killjoy is to be as unpredictable as possible so that your enemies do not work around your utility. Even if they do, make new plays and find ways that work; trial and error is the key to mastering an Agent in Valorant.
