WATCH: Virgil Van Dijk Sends Liverpool Supporters In A Tizzy After Sharing Training Video: The centreback took to Instagram to provide an update on his ongoing injury issue

Although Liverpool currently have almost ten players out due to injuries, Virgil Van Dijk’s one remains the most severe one for the club. Its not only down to the magnitude of the injury the defender sustained earlier in the season but also the importance the player has accorded amongst the Premier League champions’ ranks.

The 29 year old had ended up damaging his anterior crucial ligament during Liverpool’s draw against Everton back in October. The massive setback came in the wake of Jordan Pickford’s horrendous tackle on the defender, one which was not even adjudged as a foul at the time.

Liverpool had gone onto confirm that Virgil would need to undergo a surgery, one which has been carried out successfully ever since. Despite the club not offering any insights of a stipulated return date for the player, the general news has been that Virgil is set to miss the remainder of the ongoing season.

Left crestfallen after seeing their main defender be left on the injury bed, Liverpool supporters finally have something to rejoice about. Virgil Van Dijk took to Instagram today to share a video of him undergoing training after his operation.

In a pleasing set of events, Virgil was pictured seen working with the ball as well which affirms that the player is gradually getting better with each passing week.

Wijnaldum had previously spoken about how Virgil was in constant touch with his counterparts as he shared Virgil’s special request to him after Liverpool’s 4-0 hammering of Wolverhampton.

‘I already said that every goal I score this year I will dedicate to him because we all miss him,’ Wijnaldum told Liverpoolfc.com. ‘It was great to have him back. He said to me in the dressing room, “I want to see something today, I want a goal” so I said: “No problem!”

Liverpool meanwhile have managed to compensate adequately for Virgil despite seeing Joel Matip and Joe Gomez miss out at different times as well due to injuries. The club currently holds a sizeable lead atop of the Premier League, one which is a testament to the force Klopp has crafted out.
