After the match, India Captain Virat Kohli was questioned over Rohit Sharma

“Rohit’s left shoulder has popped out of few times, and he should be good to go in the next game,” said Virat Kohli at the post-match presentation ceremony.

The BCCI reiterated the captain’s statement but were precautionary in their statement.

“Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are progressing well. Their recovery is being closely monitored and a call on their participation in the final ODI will be taken tomorrow before the match,” said the BCCI providing an update on Rohit and Dhawan’s injury.

India romped to a 36 run win courtesy of half-centuries from Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. All three of these batsmen could have gone on to score a century but fell short of 3 figures. Australia’s Steve Smith tried to make a match out of the challenging target of 340. However, once he departed, the Indian bowlers swept the visitors apart to level the series.

This was a stark improvement from the first ODI which saw Australia triumph over the hosts with all their 10 wickets intact. The participation of Dhawan and Rohit will be crucial to India’s chances in the final ODI and the team will be hoping that the pair recover in time to participate in the decider.
