The way Kuldeep Yadav bowled in the 1st ODI against England and the way English batsman failed to pick him, Virat Kohli has gone on to say that he may be tempted to pick him and fellow spinner Yuzi Chahal in the Indian Test squad against England.

Openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow got England off to a decent start with the team being 71 for naught at the end of the first 10 overs. However, once the spinners came into the picture things changed drastically as batsmen began to tumble.

First Jason Roy, then Joe Root and then Jonny Bairstow were removed by Kuldeep Yadav to get India back in the match. Although Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler formed a good partnership, there were no significant contributions from the lower order.

As a result, England were bundled up for 268. The man who stood out amid all this was Kuldeep Yadav.

Captain Virat Kohli was so impressed by Kuldeep that he batted for picking him and fellow spinner Chahal in the Test squad.

“These two wrist spinners have been making the difference since they have come in. They did it in South Africa in the middle overs. They remain as our key weapons. Anything is possible with the selections for Tests and there might be a few surprises.

“Kuldeep is making a strong case for himself and so is Chahal. And looking at the way, the English batsmen have struggled against them, we might be tempted to do it. But the focus now is winning on the next two games,” Kohli said.

Kuldeep Yadav picked up his career best ODI figures of 10-25-6. These are also the fourth best figures for an Indian bowler in ODIs.
