Virat Kohli Never Wanted Ravi Shastri To Leave As Head Coach
It is unfortunate that captain of the team is in the middle of the controversy regarding who will be the next coach of team India. While Kohli should definitely have a say in that matter, the events over the ousting of the last coach may not allow this to happen.
According to reports, Kohli was the main reason why Kumble decided to resign as the head coach. Apparently, Kohli and Kumble had several fundamental issues which led to a fall out between the two. Kumble was actually a disciplinarian which did not suit well with many players in the dressing room.
Now we learn that Kohli did not want Kumble in the first place. He was in favour of continuing with former coach Ravi Shastri. Kohli shared a great rapport with the former cricketer and was unhappy when he learnt that he would not get the job.

“Having Ravi Shastri around is a massive boost for us as a team. There is no two ways about his thinking. He is the most amazing person to have around this team right now because it is a young unit and the kind of confidence he gives. He has authority; when he speaks people respect him. There is no talk just for the sake of it. He is sensible and something that gives you a lot of confidence and a lot of assurance,” said Kohli to a sports portal in 2015.
Even Suresh Raina sang praises of the current commentator,
“His aura is very good. He speaks to players individually and has a positive influence on us. We are very pleased to have him in the side,” Raina had said.
With Shastri applying for the head coach role, it is only a matter of time before we see Shastri as the new coach of team India.
