The 2019 edition of the Pro Kabaddi League is being conducted with full swing. Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s presence in the opening game of the season in the Mumbai leg, garnered plenty of eyeballs and added further charm to the second most watched sports league in India.

Kohli, as promised, was present in Worli on Saturday (27th July) where U Mumba faced the Puneri Paltan in the first match and Jaipur Pink Panthers locked horns with the Bengal Warriors in the following tie in Pro Kabaddi 2019.

During an interaction with the broadcaster Star Sports, the 30-year-old was asked to pick his seven-member Kabaddi team from the members of the Indian Cricket Team.

Kohli picks MS Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah

Kohli picked his team on the yardsticks of strength and athleticism- which forms the core traits among others needed in a game of Kabaddi.

Thus, the Indian skipper named MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Umesh Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and KL Rahul in his seven.

“It requires a lot of strength and athleticism. So I would say, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Umesh Yadav. Umesh is really strong. Rishabh Pant as well. I would say Bumrah because he can really work on a toe-touch. One more… I am not even going to include myself because these guys are stronger and more athletic. The last one would be KL Rahul. That’s my seven,” Kohli was quoted saying to Star Sports.

Kohli was further asked to pick up the two Kabaddi equivalents of MS Dhoni and him amonst the present set of pools of the Indian Kabaddi players. Kohli came up with the names of star raiders- Rahul Chaudhary and Ajay Thakur, as he thinks the duo would be the direct copy of him and Mahi (Dhoni).

“Rahul Chaudhari and Ajay Thakur. They have great camaraderie. So I think those two would be a direct copy of me and Mahi [Dhoni],” the Indian skipper was quoted as saying.
