Virender Sehwag explains IPL’s ‘Election se Selection’

Indian legend Virender Sehwag was recently seen as the face of IPL’s new initiative, ‘Election se Selection’.

The current coach of Kings XI Punjab, Virender Sehwag will be very busy ahead of the new IPL season starting in a few months time.

Viru is currently preparing for the IPL auction with Kings XI Punjab, as the Punjab side will be looking to build a strong side in the auction.

In spite of their lack of success in the competition, Kings XI Punjab continue to be one of the most loved teams in the IPL.

Having a very popular Bollywood actress as your team owner also helps, as Preity Zinta’s endearing nature has given her team a lot of good will over the last ten years.

But it’s the performance on the pitch that matters, and that is where KXIP have struggled in the IPL. A couple of semi-finals and one final appearance is just not good enough for a team that boasted the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Brett Lee, Kumar Sangakara, Glenn Maxwell, Virender Sehwag and David Miller over the years.

We also learn that KXIP are very interested in bringing back Yuvraj Singh into the fold. While Yuvi is no longer the player that he once was, he can provide an experienced head in the lineup, which could be an invaluable asset in the competition.

Viru also explained the ‘Election se Selection’, which will be the first time that the fans will get an opportunity to pick their players.

“Through the Election Se Selection campaign, for the first time Star Sports has given an opportunity to fans (to pick) the players who can play for their favourite team.”

“It’s like Yuvraj Singh can play for Punjab, if so many people vote for Yuvraj Singh to play in Kings XI Punjab. It is the first time they are getting opportunity and the number will be shown on TV during the (players’) auction.”
