WATCH: Akash Deep rattles Chirag Jani's stumps in Ranji Trophy 2019-20 final

Akash Deep rattles Chirag Jani’s stumps: The Bengali pacer made early inroads in the morning of the third day today.

During the third day of the final match of the ongoing 86th season of the Ranji Trophy between Saurashtra and Bengal in Rajkot, Bengal pacer Akash Deep made early inroads in the morning to send back Saurashtra all-rounder Chirag Jani.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 162nd over when Jani played on a delivery from Akash Deep on to his stumps. Becoming a victim of low bounce, the 30-year old batsman got deceived and ended up walking back to the pavilion.

Apart from dismissing Jani, what formed the highlight for Akash Deep was him breaking the leg-stump in only the second over of the day.

A 38-run stand for the last wicket between Saurashtra spinner Dhanmendrasinh Jadeja (33*) and captain Jaydev Unadkat (20) saw the hosts scoring 425 in 171.5 overs in the first innings.

Having scored 106 (287) with the help of 11 fours, Saurashtra batsman Arpit Vasavada scoring his second consecutive century saw him top-scoring for his team.

Akash Deep, who registered bowling figures of 35-9-98-4, was the pick of the Bengali bowlers. Apart from him, Shahbaz Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar picked three and two wickets respectively.

Having spent more than two days on the field, Bengal are putting together an impressive batting performance. Having lost three wickets with the score less than 150, the visitors surely need a couple of healthy partnerships to secure a first-innings lead.
