During the 17th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between Australia and Pakistan at Taunton, Pakistan middle-order batsman Asif Ali dropped a couple of catches to let his team and fans down in the first innings.
With both the catches being dropped off Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz, it continued his misfortune in World Cup matches against Australia.
The first mistake happened on the fourth delivery of the 13th over when Australia captain Aaron Finch’s attempt of punching a short delivery by Riaz saw him edging the ball to Asif Ali at first slip. After the Pakistani dropped the catch, the ball went for a boundary to act as salt to his wounds.
Finch, who was batting at 26* at that moment, ended up scoring 82 (84) with the help of six fours and four sixes.

On the first delivery of the 37th over, Asif Ali once again game under the scanner as he dropped Australia opening batsman David Warner at third-man. The southpaw’s attempt to upper cut a Riaz delivery saw him hitting it straight to Asif Ali, who made a mess of the same.
Warner, who was batting at 104* at that moment, couldn’t do much damage as Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed him on 107 in the next over.
After the second drop, a Pakistani fan sitting behind Asif Ali was seen as highly disappointed. Since then, his reaction has gone viral across social media platforms.
