WATCH: Ben Stokes' cunning move to deceive Tim Paine at Headingley

Ben Stokes’ cunning move to deceive Tim Paine: The English all-rounder was seen playing smart in front of the Australian captain.

During the third day of the third Test of the ongoing 2019 Ashes series between England and Australia at Headingley, England all-rounder Ben Stokes was seen successfully playing smart in front of Australia captain Tim Paine.

It all happened on the last delivery of the 70th over when the visitors appealed with respect to Stokes edging a Pat Cummins delivery to Paine. With the umpire ruling the decision in Stokes’ favour, Paine had the cushion of opting for a review.

In a hilarious attempt, Paine sought advice from Stokes himself. Not making things any easy for Paine, Stokes waited for the DRS timer to go off before answering on the contrary of what the former was expecting. In the end, Stokes’ cunning move had put a smile on Paine’s face.

While the match got over on Sunday itself, the video of the same has gone viral across social media platforms since morning. It is worth mentioning that Stokes’ brilliance with the bat saw England sealing a cliffhanger of a chase.

By the evening of the third day, Australia still had a review with them. With Paine using one desperately against England fast bowler Stuart Broad on the following day, he rued doing the same when his team needed one against Stokes in the penultimate over of the match.

With the series level at 1-1 at this point in time, both teams are very much in the series. The fourth Test match will be played at Old Trafford from September 4.
