James Neesham catch vs India: Watch Kiwi all-rounder grab an absolute one-handed stunner to dismiss Dinesh Karthik | India vs New Zealand wickets

James Neesham catch vs India: New Zealand all-rounder takes an unbelievable one-handed catch to dismiss Dinesh Karthik at Old Trafford

During the first semi-final of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup between India and New Zealand at The Old Trafford in Manchester, New Zealand’s  flamboyant all-rounder James Neesham took a breathtaking one-handed catch to dismiss India’s Dinesh Karthik, to add on to India’s woes.

It all happened on the final delivery of the tenth over. The Kiwi speedster Matt Henry, who had already dismissed India’s in-form openers- Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul within the first four overs of the second innings, drew yet another blood in the form of Dinesh Karthik. But, on this occasion it was James Neesham who stole all the limelight.

It was a slower delivery from Neesham on this occasion, to which Karthik (6 off 25) poked at the backward point region. But here comes the catch (pun intended). Neesham stationed at Backward Point dived towards his left, solely on his impromptu judgement, and plucked a one-handed unbelievable catch, out of nowhere.

It can arguably be termed as the catch of the tournament by Neesham, especially considering the situation and occasion coupled with a high-pressure semi-final with his team expected to pull off a miracle to defeat India.

India in deep trouble

Chasing a below-par total of 240, Team India have been handed heavy blows with all the top 4 batsmen back in the hut. In form Rohit Sharma (1 off 4 ), KL Rahul (1 off 7), and skipper Virat Kohli (1 off 6) got rarely dismissed within the first four overs of the match. Dinesh Karthik tried to show some resistance, but eventually succumbed under pressure courtesy a brilliant display of fast bowling from the Pace bowling duo of Matt Henry and Trent Boult.

At the time of writing, India were reeling at 46/4 after 15.3 overs, with Hardik Pandya (9* off 17) and Rishabh Pant (23* off 35 ) present at the crease.
