Before the IPL launched in 2008, Lalit Modi realized that he needed a poster boy for his ambitious project. Luckily for him, India lifted the inaugural T20 title which transformed MS Dhoni from a popular cricketer to a full fledged cricketing super star.

Dhoni was young, talented, successful and the leader of the next generation of Indian cricketers. So it obvious that Dhoni was going to get the superstar treatment in the Indian Premier League.

But not many could have expected the love and adoration that Dhoni received from his adopted city of Chennai. The captain and leader of the Chennai Super Kings, Dhoni led CSK to two IPL titles and a Champions League title as well.
