Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t had the perfect start to this season. Having returned from his 5 match ban, Ronaldo was supposed to send Real Madrid’s lukewarm start to the season into 5th gear, but nothing of that sort has surfaced as of now.
The Real Betis game was one full of frustration for both Ronaldo and Real Madrid fans, as even a sea of attacks couldn’t lead to them winning a home against the lowly ranked Real Betis.
But today it was time for salvation, or at least that is what the Real Madrid fans hoped for, but instead it turned into another day of frustration, with some relief at the final whistle, as Madrid scraped through to a win against Alaves.
Dani Ceballos was Madrid’s saviour tonight, as he struck twice to help Real Madrid do just enough to get those precious 3 points.
Cristiano Ronaldo cut a frustrated figure once again, struggling to get his name on the scoresheet despite playing some wonderful football. Ronaldo stuck the woodwork twice and completed 3 successful dribbles, but was just unable to put the ball in the back of the net.
Also, Ronaldo was involved in this ugly diving incident, where he went to the ground without any contact from the opponent and seemed to be reluctantly asking the referee for a penalty, but asking just the same.
From the video, it is pretty clear that Ronaldo went down with the clear intention of winning a penalty, but there just wasn;t significant contact in place.
Real Madrid fans wouldn’t want to look at this footage and would be happy that they could get those 3 important points in the bag.
