WATCH: Jaydev Unadkat breaks stumps after throwing the ball back against Sudip Chatterjee in Ranji Trophy final

Jaydev Unadkat breaks stumps: Saurashtra’s captain expressed his frustration by throwing the ball back to the stumps.

During the fourth day of the final match of the ongoing 86th season of the Ranji Trophy between Saurashtra and Bengal in Rajkot, Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat expressed his frustration of not getting a wicket by throwing the ball back to the stumps.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 93rd over when Bengal batsman Sudip Chatterjee defended a delivery from Unadkat back to him.

Having collected the ball, Unadkat was seen throwing it back to the stumps in a bid to warn the batsman regarding staying inside his crease. A full-fledged throw saw Unadkat breaking the middle-stump which was subsequently replaced by the reserve umpire.

Chatterjee and Bengal wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha stitched a 101-run stand for the fourth wicket which had become a worrying factor for the hosts. Saha, who ended up scoring a well-made 64 (184), received a reprieve during his innings when DRS changed the on-field umpire’s decision.

Unadkat, who is the highest wicket-taker in this season, has failed to dismiss a batsman in the final match. Perhaps it was because of the same that he expressed frustration on Chatterjee.

Chasing Saurashtra’s first-inning score of 425 runs, Bengal are on the verge of crossing the 300-run mark at the time of writing this article. With six wickets down, the onus is once again on Anustup Majumdar.

With the play entering the last hour of the fourth day, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the match is highly likely to decide on the first-innings lead. Therefore, expect the next few hours to decide the course of the match.
