During the first T20I of the ongoing Windies’ tour of India at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Indian pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Windies’ all-rounder Khaleel Ahmed were seen staring at each other after the former bowled a wicket maiden.
Ahmed had taken the new ball for India. In which was his second over, the fourth of the innings, a significant miscommunication saw Shai Hope getting run-out for 10 (7) on the third ball of the innings.
Kieron Pollard, who came in to bat at No. 5, played the last four deliveries without scoring any run. After bowling the last ball of an impressive over, the 20-year old Ahmed was seen giving a glare to Pollard, something which is common with fast bowlers.
With the presence of someone as reactive as Pollard at the other end, a reaction was bound to happen and it did as he was seen funnily shaking his shoulders. Adhering to their own respective limits, none of them crossed the line or said anything which would have affected the spirit of the game.
Earlier, India captain Rohit Sharma had won the toss and chose to field. India handed respective debuts to the left-arm duo of Khaleel Ahmed and Krunal Pandya. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was expected to take the new ball for India, didn’t play because of illness. Yuzvendra Chahal, India’s premier bowler in limited-overs, was left out to strengthen the batting order.

Impressive Khaleel. The ability to swing the ball bothways coming to the fore nicely…and also, the temperament. #IndvWI
