Paris Saint Germain took yet another giant step towards their Ligue 1 title victory with a 3-1 win over Marseille at Parc Des Princes. Kylian Mbappe scored one in the first half and Angel Di Maria bagged two in the second part of the game to complete an easy victory against Rudi Garcia’s side.

During the final minute of the stoppage time, Kylian Mbappe was pushed down by a  Marseille defender inside the penalty box. Angel Di Maria was convinced that he would be the penalty taker to complete a hat-trick. But, Kylian Mbappe decided against handing him over the penalty.

Despite requesting to take the penalty, Kylian Mbappe was not able to save it as the substitute goalkeeper Yohaan Pele got a strong hand to push the ball to the side.

That was a poor act from Mbappe as the game was already over. In such a situation he had to score but he failed to find a way past Pele.

Thomas Tuchel praised his side’s mentality after going out in the Champions League to Manchester United.

“It’s not up to us to say sorry. We’re the most disappointed. It was an accident,” said Tuchel.

“Everyone can feel that this team is united, they are always together, they give everything,” he said in his post-match interview, per Goal.

“The team proves that she can react as a champion. The mentality is extraordinary. It’s a great win in a big game.

“I know my team, if you lose a big match, we lost one, you have to accept that everyone is talking. We must be quiet, be calm. It’s hard, I will always defend my team, the boys are incredible.”

Tuchel then praised Mbappe and Di Maria.

“Di Maria made an outstanding match. He has a lot of responsibilities because we miss a lot of key players. Kylian and he take their responsibilities.”

Kylian Mbappe has been one of the best performers this campaign. The French International has made 46 goal contributions to PSG which makes the second highest in Europe. It’s absolutely ridiculous to think that the French International is just 20 years old.

Thomas Tuchel admitted it was a failure to not qualify for the next round of the Champions League after they faced eliminations in the hands of Manchester United. Paris Saint Germain might have been kicked out of the Champions League and Coupe De La League, but they are already twenty points above the second placed LOSC Lille.

When Zinedine Zidane was unvieled as the Real Madrid manager, the French International was asked if he would like to bring Kylian Mbappe to Santiago Bernabeu in the future.

Zidane responded by saying “Like any good player, I would be happy to coach him. But it’s not the time to talk about that.”

Paris Saint Germain, who bought Kylian Mbappe for a fee of 180 million euros during the summer of 2018 will be aiming to recoup even more should the Los Blancos come calling in the near future.

On the other hand, Neymar has been forced to sit out due to an ankle injury. Even though board members at Barcelona have denied about a potential reunion with Lionel Messi at Camp Nou, he continues to be linked with the reigning Spanish Champions.

There is no doubt that the French outfit have failed to make a progression by crashing out of the Champions Round of 16 for the fourth year on a trot. It has been that kind of a season, but Thomas Tuchel will be hopeful of reaching the last four next year to keep his job intact.
