WATCH: Mitchell Starc dismisses Shehan Jayasuriya after latter attempts reverse ramp at MCG

Mitchell Starc dismisses Shehan Jayasuriya: The Australian fast bowler’s pace was too much for the Sri Lankan all-rounder.

During the third T20I of the ongoing Sri Lanka’s tour of Australia in Melbourne, Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc dismissed Sri Lanka all-rounder Shehan Jayasuriya after the latter tried to play a reverse ramp.

It all happened on the last delivery of the penultimate over when Jayasuriya’s attempt to up the ante saw him walking back to the pavilion. The southpaw shot was an example of trying too much against the likes of Starc. With him missing the ball altogether, it ended up hitting his leg-stump.

Coming in to bat at No. 6 in the 15th over, Jayasuriya ended up scoring a mediocre 12 (15). After being rested in the second T20I in Brisbane, Starc came back to register bowling figures of 4-0-32-2 today. Apart from Jayasuriya, Starc also dismissed Sri Lanka opening batsman Niroshan Dickwella (0) in the first over itself.

After Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and put Sri Lanka in to bat, the visitors ended up scoring a below par 142/6 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the second over, Sri Lanka wicket-keeper batsman Kusal Perera was the top-scorer for them. In what was his 11th T20I half-century, Perera scored 57 (45) with the help of four fours and a six before getting out in the 17th over.

Other than Starc, Australia fast bowlers in Pat Cummins and Kane Richardson also picked up a couple of wickets each.
