Watch: NBA Referee Eric Lewis’ Burner Account Investigation Leaves Kendrick Perkins Gasping for Air
Former NBA player Kendrick Perkins cried out in laughter after he was asked to elaborate on Erik Lewis’ controversy related to a burner account. Eric Lewis, an NBA referee with 19 seasons under his belt, has been accused of creating a burner account on Twitter. The account has responded to a number of posts criticizing himself and has also been guilty of attacking LA Lakers’ fans on Twitter.
On ESPN’s First Take, Kendrick Perkins was asked to elaborate on the controversy. However, the former Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers player could not control his laughter and ended up tearing up during the episode. Perkins obviously thinks that the controversy in itself is highly ridiculous, and later reacted with laughing emojis to the tweet. The clip was shared by Shannonnn Sharpes Burner (PARODY Account) on Twitter.
Kendrick Perkins cannot control his laughter after being asked to elaborate on the Eric Lewis controversy
Eric Lewis and his family have long been said to be Boston Celtics fans. The veteran referee has been criticized by multiple players over the years and has also been accused of favoring the Celtics.
He officiated game 7 of the recent series between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Celtics. The burner account had apparently used Lewis’ AOL information for registration and had multiple problematic replies.
With the referee under investigation by the League, Molly Qerim claimed she wanted a more serious discussion around the controversy. However, Perkins could not hold himself together, even after being given almost two minutes to calm down.

The 38-year could not control his laughter and tried to explain his stance multiple times. Towards the end, the panel was forced to move on after Perkins showed his obvious inability to calm down. He managed to say the following in between:
“It’s the whole thing, it’s the whole thing. It’s the burner account with the camera. It’s the LeBron James.”
Eric Lewis is under investigation after being accused of using a burner account to hit back at critics and fans
There is little doubt that the controversy is hilarious. After being accused of supporting the Celtics for years, Lewis gave away some credible proof to his critics.
The burner account not only hit back at criticism aimed at him, but it also attacked Lakers fans over several different points. Lewis was seen claiming that the Lakers were thoroughly beaten by the Nuggets and that their fans should hold their team more accountable.
Regardless, Lewis is not the first NBA referee to have come under the scanner. In 2007, former referee Tim Donaghy was found guilty of conspiring with gamblers to fix NBA matches. Donaghy faced and pled guilty to multiple criminal charges.
Not only did Lewis make it apparent via his posts that it was indeed him, but he also gave away enough proof for fans and critics to ensure that he never forgets the ordeal. This is independent of what the NBA decides to do, once the investigation has concluded. Regardless, the NBA is bound to be forced in increasing its diligence when it comes to selecting referees for the league.
