WATCH: Nick Kyrgios hits an unbelievable TWEENER in the China Open
The fag end of the Tennis season is under way as top tennis stars from all over the globe have made it to Beijing for the China Open.
Rafa Nadal scraped through the first round, brushing away his Laver Cup hangover in not very convincing fashion.
But the highlight of the day was Nick Kyrgios’ dominant performance, where he absolutely battered Baishavili, to win his round of 32 match 6-1, 6-2.
Kyrgios had a very fruitful Laver Cup, playing out of his skin and almost beating Roger Federer in a crunch game. But that was not even the best part about his Laver Cup campaign. The best part was when Kyrgios was reduced to tears after his loss against Federer, showing that he actually cared about the game and his performance, something that he has admitted to not being very concerned about.
In the shot of the day, Kyrgios dominated the rally from the baseline and stepped in at the right time when Baishavili was pinned to the back hand side. Kyrgios had made his way to the net and unleashed a very, very skillful Tweener to win the point.
Check out the video here:
Kyrgios will next face Mischa Zverev in the Round of 16 and it promises to be a very intriguing encounter between two players with very different styles of play. Mischa would be hoping to use his ‘serve and volley’ to unsettle the hard hitting Kyrgios.
