During the first match of the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup between India and Bangladesh at Dubai, Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan grabbed a catch on the second attempt as Bangladesh lost their second wicket in the form of Nazmul Hossain.
Earlier, Indian captain Rohit Sharma had won the toss and chose to field. With Hardik Pandya being ruled out of the tournament, India made a forceful change of bringing in Ravindra Jadeja into the playing eleven. Jadeja is making his comeback into the ODI team after more than a year.
On the other hand, Bangladesh made two changes to their playing eleven, bringing in Mushfiqur Rahim and Mustafizur Rahman in place of Mominul Haque and Abu Hider.
After Bhuvneshwar Kumar drew first blood by dismissing Liton Das in the fifth over, this wicket gave India more say in the first powerplay.
It happened on the first delivery of the sixth over when Hossain, playing away from his body, drove a Jasprit Bumrah delivery. However, with the ball taking the outside edge of his bat, it went straight into the hands of Dhawan, who was fielding at first slip.
Dhawan added drama to the catch as he failed to hold on to it in the first attempt. That being said, with his eyes on the ball, it helped him to not loose sight of the ball and catch it in the second attempt. In which was Bumrah’s first wicket of the match, Hossain ended up scoring 7 (14) as Bangladesh were reduced to 16-2.
