The British authorities have come under the scanner yet again, after an unauthorized plane flies yet again over the Headingley stadium, this time during the India vs Sri Lanka World Cup match at Leeds.
The plane carried banners bearing the messages- ‘Justice for Kashmir’ and ‘India stop genocide & free Kashmir’ while India were fielding after Indian skipper Virat Kohli lost the Toss and sent in to field first.

It is worth mentioning that this is the second such instance over the Headingly stadium where political messages were showcased by unauthorized planes. The first instance as such occurred during the Pakistan vs Bangladesh match at the same very venue bearing the message- ‘Justice for Balochistan’.
ICC has a zero tolerance policy
World Cricket’s apex body- ICC has a zero tolerance policy for politics or racist slogans on display during an international match.
The British authorities have failed yet again to bring the perpetrators to justice, and the ICC has expressed its anger and disappointment against the local police.

“We are incredibly disappointed this has happened again. We do not condone any sort of political messages at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Throughout the tournament, we have worked with local police forces around the country to prevent this type of protest occurring. After the previous incident we were assured by West Yorkshire Police there would not be repeat of this issue, so we are very dissatisfied it has happened again”, commented the ICC.
After the incident during the Pakistan-Afghanistan game, the ICC had said: “We work with local police forces around the country to prevent this type of incident occurring and were assured that given Headlingly is under the flight path for the Leeds Bradford Airport it would not be an issue. We do not condone any sort of political messages at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and will work with West Yorkshire police to deal with and understand why this has happened and to ensure it does not happen again.”
Another plane but with a proposal message
There was yet another aircraft which was spotted over the stadium, carrying a proposal message- ‘Tamara will you marry me- Sam’. The perpetrators have perhaps made sure that they would turn out to be a worse headache for the concerned authorities with both political as well as a apolitical messages been displayed unabated one after the other at regular intervals.
And another… 🛩
That’s more like it… if you ever have to waste money on a plane-banner, be this guy! #CWC19 #IndvSL pic.twitter.com/dkxDiiisCf
