WATCH: Virat Kohli lauds Rohit Sharma for achieving 'never seen before' record in 2019 Cricket World Cup

Virat Kohli lauds Rohit Sharma: The two senior Indian cricketers were seen in a candid conversation with each other.

Much like the rest of the country, India captain Virat Kohli is also in awe of his deputy in Rohit Sharma. Having scored his fifth century in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against Sri Lanka, Sharma has become the first batsman to achieve the milestone.

The senior Indian pair was seen in an interview which was uploaded on BCCI’s website. Playing the role of an ‘anchor’ yet again, Kohli used terms such as ‘Man of the Moment’, ‘Man of the Tournament’, ‘Outstanding’ and ‘Never seen before’ to introduce Sharma in the video.

Being asked about his consistency in the tournament so far, Sharma highlighted continuing his form in England and cashing in after starting the World Cup on a winning note.

“As we all know, it was an important tournament for us. We had some good form coming into the tournament. As a top-order batsman, I wanted to carry on the form which I had in the past. When you start off really well [against South Africa], it was really good,” Sharma was quoted as saying.

“Focus has to be on your routine”

Having narrowly missed from getting into the Indian squad which lifted the World Cup in 2011, Sharma was part of the Indian team which lost the semi-final in 2015. Being asked about his motivation for this tournament, the 32-year old cricketer laid emphasis on focusing on the normal routine.

“World Cup is a premier tournament. The focus has to be on your routine. We all know World Cup is important. Even you have said it in the past that it’s a World Cup but it’s a game of cricket. We have to play to win a game of cricket. That’s what I think,” Sharma added.

The optimist in him is waiting for the day when Punjab Kings will win their maiden Indian Premier League title. When not watching cricket, he is mostly found in a cinema hall watching a Punjabi movie.
