Virat Kohli and Steve Smith

Virat Kohli and Steve Smith have been at each other’s throats since the eventful Test series in India. The relationship between the duo was marred by Steve Smith’s apparent ‘brain fade’, when he turned to the dressing room to take advise about using the DRS, something that isn’t legal in the game of cricket.

Virat Kohli, who was quick to notice this move from Smith, hurriedly turned to the umpires, notifying them of the unfair practice that was transpiring.

In the post match press conference, Steve Smith termed this as a ‘brain fade’, saying that he had no intentions of indulging in any sort of unfair means.

Virat Kohli though wasn’t very impressed with Steve Smith’s justifications, saying that the Australians had done something like that 2 or 3 times during the match, and that Virat Kohli had brought that to the notice of the umpires as well.

The ICC investigation that prevailed couldn’t find anything conclusive and BCCI ended up giving up on the case and decided to concentrate on the series at hand.

Kohli hasn’t quite forgotten about the event, as he took a dig at Steve Smith during the 1st ODI against Australia at Chennai.

The event took place in the 45th over of the Indian innings when Marcus Stoinis had apparently struck Bhuvi on the pad, and while in real time it looked like the ball had first hit the bat and then hit the pad, Steve Smith and co. still went ahead with the review.

Replays clearly showed that the ball had hit the bat first and thus Australia’s review was rendered unsuccessful.

And just as the not out sign was displayed on the big screen, Virat raised his finger in a cheeky manner and tried impersonating Steve Smith by bringing to the fore his fidgety nature.
