With undisputed lofty standards of punching and counterpunching techniques, leading the team by an epitome of class, upping the ante on the field, instilling confidence among the players with utmost dedications shows the essential Virat Kohli for you!

Having plied the trade with the relentless brand of cricket, one might ponder the fact whether Virat Kohli is alien. Kohli was caught at the pre-match press conference as he spoke about keeping the energy levels. He added further saying that when he feels that his body needs rest, he will ask for it. This proves that Virat Kohli is human after all.

On narrating about workload, Kohli said that most of the players played to their potential and marked their presence in the same number of matches. “Tough to speak on workload. There’s a lot of talk about whether players should be rested or not. From the outside, it looks like why are people asking for rest. Everyone played the same number of games,” Kohli added.

It’s all about building the core team with all bases covered. Virat Kohli has already done that and India will be tested when they tour South Africa in the times to come. Kohli stressed the fact that not all players had endured the same kind of workload despite all played the same number of games.

“But it’s important to understand that not everyone had the same kind of workload in every game that you play. We have built such a strong core team now of 20-25 players, you don’t want important players breaking down at important times,” he continued.

Kohli also added saying that it is not that easy for a player to maintain the same kind of energy levels who are eyeing to excel in three formats. The run-machine admits that he needs rest and when he finds himself that he needs to be rested, he will ask for it.

“That is where the balance needs to be maintained. It’s humanly impossible to maintain the same kind of intensity for a player who plays all three formats. Definitely, I do need a rest. When I think that my body needs to be rested, I’ll ask for it. I am not a robot you can cut my skin and check, I bleed.”

India have already swept Sri Lanka 9-0 at the Lankan soil. Now they have been given another chance to make most of the festive fervour. It’s all about maintaining the same energy throughout the series and Kohli hopes for a better brand of cricket.

“Another series for us, you know we’ve played so much cricket now, it all about good preparation keeping our energy levels and go for quality training and up not necessarily go for quantity because that can also lead to bad habits, when you know you are playing well and you are in a good zone and then over practice, that also leads to you know the mindset going off,” Kohli signed off.
