However, the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise has confirmed that ABD will continue playing for the side. In a conversation with an RCB fan, when asked whether AB would play in the IPL in future or not, the franchise wrote:

“Yes he will.”

Just days back, AB had ended his IPL campaign as the second highest run-getter for RCB. Although RCB was not able to make it to the Playoffs, de Villiers played with consistency as an individual.

He had also posted a video, for the RCB fans:

De Villiers also posted on his official app: “It has been a very tough decision to make and I’ve thought long and hard about it but I believe it is my time to step down. A huge thank you to my teammates, Cricket South Africa and all the supporters who have been behind me both in SA and around the world.”
