Will Virat Kohli play 3rd Test against England?

India lost to England by an innings and 59 runs at Lord’s and Virat Kohli suffered a minor back injury. Will Virat Kohli play 3rd Test against England? We’ll have to wait and see

Virat Kohli and Team India suffered a crushing defeat in the 2nd Test against England at Lord’s.

The Indian batting unit wasn’t able to apply themselves and pose any sort of challenge to the highly skilful England bowling unit.

Ravichandran Ashwin was the top scorer in both the innings for India, as none of the top order batsmen showed any resilience in tough. tough conditions.

To add to their woes, the Indian team saw Virat Kohli sit out during the initial part of Day4, owing to a stiff back.

As he was out of play for 37 minutes, the Indian top order had to ensure that they stayed put for 37 minutes, as only then would Kohli be eligible to walk out into the centre.

However, the Indian openers couldn’t hang in there for long and hence Rahane had to come out to bat ahead of Kohli.

Kohli ultimately did bat in the 2nd innings but was in visible pain.

Asked if he would be fit enough to play the 3rd Test, Kohli replied with an affirmative, saying that the intensity in the field would have to come down, but he should be in a good position to be 100% with the bat.

“The back is one thing that can be very tricky when it goes off. It happened during the latter half of the last leg of the South Africa tour when I missed a T20 game because that was very sudden. It happened one day before.

“The good thing is I have five days before the next Test. We are confident with rehabilitation and strengthening, I should be ready for the next game although not (with) the same intensity in the field but I should be good enough to hold a position in the field and be 100% with the bat.

“Again I will have to look at the running bit of things which was difficult today. As of now it is sore. I am not hiding that fact, but that is part of the game. I had to do what I could do to go there and bat again and try my best.” Kohli said in the post match press conference.
